A decision support system for the optimal allocation and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines using analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and integer programming (IP) model

Introduction In the Philippines, scheduling COVID-19 vaccine rollout has been a challenging task. The local government units (LGUs) have to carefully work with limited resources avoid underutilizing vaccines while considering prioritization schemes in rollout. As country continues vaccinate its population manage spread of COVID-19, planning individuals becomes more apparent vaccination respect situation their respective areas. Methods Our study develops location-allocation model that aims optimally schedule municipality. Here we applied analytic hierarchy process (AHP) determine communities (i.e., barangays) based on number cases, density, and proximity community available sites. Consequently, an integer programming (IP) was formulated assignment stations rollout, as well minimum open. Results discussion AHP-based IP proposed this not only assigns centers, but is also capable tailoring prioritize depending preferences LGUs, Furthermore, framework applicable other vaccine-preventable diseases (e.g., rabies, measles, etc.) should LGUs embark adapting approach.
